A family is so important and how we relate to our siblings over time is very well illustrated in this photo series featuring four sisters. The pictures of the Brown sisters were taken over a 40 year period by Detroit-based photographer Nicholas Nixon who is married to one of the sisters.
The pictures were first taken in 1975 when the Brown sisters who are named Heather, Mimi, Bebe, and Laurie were between the ages of 15 and 25. A group photo was taken every year since then and you can see how emotionally closer the sister’s become from teenagers to adults.
