‘The Little Drummer Boy’ is a timeless Christmas classic but unlike some Christmas carols, it’s fairly new. Having been written in 1941 by Katherine Kennicott Davis, a music teacher, and composer, its lyrics tell a beautiful story of a poor drummer boy playing for baby Jesus. It was first recorded in 1951 by the Trapp Family Singers; however, its popularity rose when the Harry Simeone Chorale released a single in 1958
