Sister Rosetta Tharpe is an American icon and her musical talent influenced generations of musicians from all over the world. She is often referred to the “Godmother of Rock and Roll” and her musical prowess was unmatched.
In this amazing clip, Tharpe arrives in a horse-drawn carriage at at a railway station at Chorlton-cum-Hardy in the UK to a flurry of fans sitting across from the tracks. She straps on a Gibson SG guitar and begins playing “Didn’t It Rain” and not even the light rain on that day could have dampened her performance.
