Personally, I’ve always had a fear of hospitals but I’m not sure if it’s because of the hospital staff, the sharp medical instruments, or the sterile and cold environment. For me, I think it’s the latter.
Watch how this hospital is unlike any other…
One of the most interesting places in Japan is the Edogawa Hospital. It has a really unique history and architecture, and it’s definitely worth checking out if you’re in the Tokyo area. This unique medical center still has a sterile environment for the safety of our health but it definitely isn’t a boring shade of white. Instead, it is full of color paintings, murals, and even a gigantic elephant-themed MRI machine.
The waiting room is definitely more inviting than most hospitals and looks awesome.
The three little pigs. I’m sure there is a mural of the big bad wolf lurking somewhere.
A giant elephant graces the MRI room along with colorful decor.
The hospital map represented as a treasure map.
Gigantic red murals as far as the eye could see.
Hollywood inspired art pieces (Can you spot Shirley Temple?)
A detailed look at the red murals.
An inspirational painting for hospital patients that features classic album covers. “Where there is a will, there is a way”.
There is even art on the ceiling!
Yabba Dabba Doo! Hope you enjoyed your hospital stay!

If North American hospitals had this type of style, it would probably bring my stress level down if I needed to go to the emergency room. If you’re ever in the Tokyo area and need medical care, be sure to check out Edogawa Hospital in Japan!
