Summer’s almost here and that means camping season if you love spending time in the great outdoors. Whether you have a tent or luxury tiny homes, one of the joys of camping is cooking over an open flame. While most people will start a campfire, sometimes all you want is a small flame to cook over and a DIY camping stove would be ideal.
YouTuber desertsun02 has a great idea for building metal can heaters that only require 3 things:
- a can
- a roll of toilet paper
- alcohol (or specifically, 70% isopropyl alcohol).
Not only is it easy to light, but it’s also easy to extinguish and it can be reused as long as there is alcohol remaining in the container.
If you don’t cook outside, these metal can heaters would also be great for creating outdoor torches that stay lit for hours.

Now you’ll be able to fry up steak and eggs in the morning while camping without having to worry about building a huge campfire.
