The ocean is often a mysterious place and you never know what you’ll find when sailing across it. When a sailing crew of the Maiken went out for a sailing excursion through the South Pacific, they noticed something strange with the color of the water.
As they got closer, they saw what appeared to be a sandbar in the middle of the ocean. They couldn’t believe their eyes so they decided to sail a little closer to inspect the unusual sandbar they were seeing.
A sailing crew noticed what appeared to be a sandbar in the middle of the ocean.
As they moved in closer, they discovered it was actually pumice stone floating on the surface of the water.
But there were huge amounts and it almost appeared like a beach.
They decided to sail through it.
They left a break in the stone as the ventured forward.
But as they were sailing through it, they noticed the field of pumice stone was actually getting larger quickly.
This made them a little nervous so they decided to increase their speed.
Once they were a safe distance away, they felt underwater rumblings and soon noticed a plume of smoke.
They found the source of the pumice stone. It was an underwater volcano erupting!
But when the smoke cleared they noticed something else…
…It was land!
The volcano was forming an island right before their eyes.
It was a once-in-a-lifetime event. Witnessing the birth of a new island.
